Guess today is National Barbie day so when the local grocery store has Barbie-themed donuts it makes sense to get some.. ๐Ÿฉ

Today is going to be powered by lots of coffeeโ€ฆ โ˜•๏ธ๐Ÿ”‹

๐Ÿ“DiMillo’s On the Water, Portland

Well this was a very wet run this morning as it rained the entire time I was out there. I tried my best to avoid puddles but found myself on a muddy trail and stepped right into it.

Shorter and quicker run today because I had to get into the office very early before a long day of meetings. Interesting sunrise this morning with a small slit before complete cloud cover.

Decided to hit the streets of Portland and with no running plan. Along the way I stumbled upon this building and had to look it up later. The Hey Building (Charles Q. Clapp Block) which was built in 1862 by a local very prominent architect. I would love to take a glance inside as it is very narrow!

Good morning from the East Coast! I am sure some of it just a change of scenery and helps that the run rises earlier here than home but I really do enjoy these morning runs watching the sunrise. ๐ŸŒ…

Reminded why I like app based ride services

Say what you will about ride-sharing companies, but honestly, a coworker and I arrived at the airport at the same time and were going to share a cab. However, we were staying at different hotels 2 blocks apart.

The person coordinating the cabs said “nope you have two people and two destinations, so you need two cabs.”

It was 11:30pm at night and I am sure the look of confusion crossed my face when I just said whatever we need one cab. Honestly, what the heck? That is the dumbest thing I have ever heard, as I could have just used Uber and selected two drop-off locations.

So, what did I do? Told my co-worker to jump in the cab and we would head to his hotel. The cabbies when we walked over to the cabs questioned me about the 1 and 2 locations but I just said we were going to his hotel. I can walk 2 blocks vs spending another $25 for a different cab to goto the same location.

Granted, it wasn’t my money, but it was a matter of principle.

Had the day off today so why not get the run in early so I had the rest of the day free. Oh wait, there was Hockey games today. This particular route I always forget how many hills there are until I am too committed and have to keep pushing thought.

This is why I canโ€™t buy nice sunglassesโ€ฆ. I toss them in the car and then I sit on themโ€ฆ. and repeat ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ

Last time for my daughter to do piano for a while so I filled the time running and filling in my street map. Still cold ๐Ÿฅถ

Bare branches frame a sunlit, partially frozen lake surrounded by dried reeds under a clear blue sky.

What the weather happened here! This was snowy, windy, and cold on this run. Strange how a little more than 24 hrs goes by and my whole outlook changed.

A winding pathway dusted with snow meanders through bare trees; the atmosphere is dusk-tinted and serene.

Start of the week so I wanted to make sure to get some miles in. However, I quickly realized that my body was not ready for 58ยฐF with lots of sun to run in again. This felt much worse than it should have.

Well 45 min of work and we will call this Backyard Ice Rink season a wrapโ€ฆ or bust! ๐Ÿฅบ Till next year I guessโ€ฆ ๐Ÿ‘‹ ๐ŸงŠ๐Ÿ’

Well didnโ€™t see this one coming after yesterday but here I find myself at a swim meet all morning today. Thankfully I have a great spot and view of the event since my daughter will be in lane right in front of me for 2/3 events.

The plan was for a mile less running today but seeing how we made a couple wrong turns it helped force our decision to continue to the half distance. Is still strange to think I havenโ€™t run this far for almost a year and a half now.

๐Ÿ”— Genius vs. Expertise - by John Warner

Playing drums on pillows or even simulate drum rhythms and fills by clicking his teeth together is not being gifted with genius in the way we popularly think of genius unless deep down genius is simply passion manifested through practice, obsession married with expertise.

Such an interesting article to read on this topic and does make you think what is Genius.

I decided to flex my lunch today and get this run in since it is short weather! Day started crazy at work with lots of little things to tackle so I ended up working in the dining room as I didnโ€™t have a break long enough to make it to my โ€œofficeโ€. I guess I had that lunch break but priorities. ๐Ÿ˜

I have no good reason at all but found myself installing Drafts again. I don’t think it is going to stick but figured I would check it out and what better way to figure out how to do things than to post to Micro.blog.

It is that time of year I guess… This is the first year of Girl Scouts for this girl to experience cookie selling so we were out pounding the pavement before swimming.
